Studio Portraits

Studio portraits with personality.

These portraits were taken for Emily Buell, a student of the UofSC music school who is embarking on a career as an Airforce Conductor. We designed the shoot to feel professional and clean, but also elegant and moody. These photos were used on her professional website and helped establish her personal brand.

“Carrie” was a collaborative studio project between me and a friend, born from a love of horror and the challenge to transform. We wanted to see how we could creatively turn a regular portrait session into an iconic horror movie scene using makeup and gel lighting. Our model found a vintage dress reminiscent of that prom night, and we purchased liters of stage blood to recreate the pig-blood pouring moment. In the studio, we used a textured backdrop to mimic the old-fashioned prom setting, with stark up-lighting to give it that classic horror feel. After multiple messy takes, we were able to capture the essence of Carrie’s repression, rage, and twisted self-discovery.
